All about Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer

Robert Renwick Mortimer born 23rd May, 1959 in Middlesbrough. James Roderick Moir (now Vic Reeves) born in Leeds on 24th January 1959. Vic Reeves Big Night Out started as a stage performance in 1988 and began receiving press coverage and, through their new friends Jools Holland and Jonathan Ross, Jim and Bob made their first television appearances on shows like The Tube, The Last Resort, Juke Box Jury and The Happening. It seemed inevitable that Vic Reeves would eventually become a television star, and both Alan Yentob of the BBC and Michael Grade of Channel Four turned up.Channel Four won the signing battle and, via Jonathan Ross’ production company Channel X, Big Night Out made the leap to TV.A pilot was filmed in late 1989, directed by Geoff Posner.Off-screen, Jim and Bob were now an equal partnership, but didn't become known as ‘Reeves & Mortimer’ until their move to the BBC in 1993.
