LANCASTER LUNE AND WYRE MOTORCYCLE CLUB

Newsletter No 115                                                                                                                                                                    July 2001

Ho knave..... pass me my quill such that I can put to paper the thoughts that gather whilst I reflect..............

I have to apologise to those of you who turned up at the Scarthwaite House for the impromptu run last meeting, and had to miss out...the moral has to be  if you want to keep in touch grease my palm with silver and get the newsletter delivered to your door. Good value at a measly 46p per month (£5.50 per annum in January). We had a good run out c/o Roy Taffs who led us via Bentham up to Devils Bridge, then back eventually to the Scarthwaite for a jar. A pleasant run out was had by all I believe,  and one new member was added to the books.......

A Great Breakfast run by Ken the following weekend saw nearly 20 machines depart promptly from Dalton Square, via Kirkstone pass, Pooley Bridge etc to Penrith. A whale of a breakfast was available to the hungry, (and it was had by more than one!) and the big stotty was a sight to behold. The weather remained cool but bright and there were no casualties excepting a somewhat lame  parallel twin Ducati 500 which became a 250 single for the last 20 miles or so. There were a few unfamiliar faces and machinery which added a little more interest to the run. Remember everyone is welcome to attend on any of the events which you will find in this newsletter, the more the merrier.

Just before this run I was 'phoned by Jim who reported the theft of his V-twin Kawasaki from his Garage a few days before the run. This has left him without transport and more than a little upset at the loss of his cherished hog and I'm sure we all wish him a speedy return to two wheels while the summer is still with us.

Needless to say that if anyone has anything to say, write or add to these newsletters I would be delighted to include it. You don't even have to type it, I can usually decipher all kinds of scribbles, just get it to me at 110 Torrisholme Road, LA1 2LW or telephone me on 61152 and I'll see what I can do.

This weeks meeting is a RUN organised by Chris starting at The Little Chef cafe on the A6 South of Forton...The run will be leaving at 7.00pm earlier than the usual club meetings.... Entitled "LANES and SPLASHES", not a long run so leave the heavyweights at home and come out on your tiddlers is the advice from Chris.

Here's looking forward to a good run and some decent weather again.
