Heaven and Earth
I am a believing Christian, and passionately so. A strong search for meaning and authenticity finally lead me to - not to the truth of an abstract belief system or a philosophy - but to a Person, Jesus Christ. I believe he is the incarnated Son of God who re-created and restored a radically new reality through his violent death and resurrection. Human hatred and God's love met at the cross, and love won. To know him is to know God and participate in this new life; and to find tangible hope beyond hopelessness. I literally mean knowing *Jesus*; not an idea, misrepresentation, cultural accommodation, political slogan, or someone else's view of him.
The quest to know and trust God still continues. I have learned a lot from and about the believers who came before me, and also those who wrestle with God today. I do not pretend to understand everything about the God I serve; nor would I want to. Yet. A lot has involved unlearning and putting away misconceptions, prejudices and clichs. There are still things about today's Christian sub-culture(s) that I feel uncomfortable with; but then again, I can't imagine life without Jesus - and the failings of Christians prove that there is a definite market niche for a rescuer.
I am familiar with the basic tenets of most religions or ideologies, including arguments against the Christian faith. I welcome respectful personal dialogue regarding matters of belief or unbelief. Notice I said "respectful", "personal" and "dialogue", not mass-produced cookie-cutter propaganda. Humans are incredibly complex creatures and it is a great disservice to reduce each other into a few simplistic stereotypes.

Christian ThinkTank. I like Glenn Miller's detailed theodicy and his gentle, enraptured, verbose understanding of the Triune God. Try
this for starters.
Sacred Space. My favorite online prayer site. The spirituality of St. Ignatius resonates with me.
