Below is a picture of a finished boat being launched on to the water at Hanbury wharf canal. This is a detailed and complex operation were the sling plays a vital part in hoisting up the boat. The slings should be secure and correctly placed under and around the middle. This is to ensure that the weight of the boat is distributed evenly. It is then lowered onto the water slowly by a large crane, whilst being guided from the front. (see bottom left) this is to ensure the boat doesn't swing to far out and get damaged or injury anyone around.
