Good and Evil

§ Ethics §

"Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responibly,
while bad people will find a way around the laws"

-Plato

This path is based on personal responsibility, and there for personal choices. I highly doubt many people need a law to tell them not to kill someone. And if that is the only thing stopping you from taking anothers life, then you need help. And those that need the law, break it and do kill, sadly. I am not saying laws are wrong, we need order and a bases to make sure no one is treated unfairly as a whole. But personal ethics are different.

As I believe everything is connected, everything I do in turn effects someone or something else. So I try to live my life, treating others and nature with respect and honor, giving of myself whenever I can, and trying to create harmony and balance. I try not to take more then I need, and whenever I take I give back. Its about trying to do the least amount of harm in life. We aren't perfect, we make mistakes and fall down, but then we learn from them and get back up.

There are no universal laws, in the Dianic path. Its up to each of us to know and understand are own ethics and the reasons behind them. Knowing that we are all connected and everything we do effects others as well as ourself, we try to make careful thoughtful descions.

§ Good and Evil §

I do not believe in Satan.
There is no good superhero almighty god and some evil wicked devil, fighting back and forth over our poor little souls. The devil is a Christian concept, as I am not Christian I do not care about him or believe in him, in any way.

The Goddess is everything, she is life as well as death and everything in between. As I said she doesn't control our lives and torture or reward us. We may be sad that a huge storm came by and destroyed our town and killed many of our people, but it wasn't because of some evil reason. Things happen, it is the flow of life. We are not the center of it all, it didn't happen because of us or just to spite us.

Things are just things and we label them as good or evil. Most of the things we label as evil are just things we can not (or choose not to) understand. The darkness seems scary, because we can not see our way. We have to learn to trust our instincts, trust ourselves. Which is a hard thing to do.

Sometimes bad things happen, sometimes good things happen. And most of the time it is all in how we look at it.

§ Heaven, Hell and the afterlives §

The afterlive, is a very personal subject. And the Dianic path doesn't really have a specific feeling on it. It is more up to the individual to make up thier own mind. Whatever feels right to them. Usually though it has to do with one or all of these principals: reincarnation, a summerland/heaven/afterlife realm that is whatever you wish it to be, or a recycling of your spirit into the planet. Typically we do not have a belief in any sort of "hell" besides that which we create ourselves. We are not eternaly punished for any sins. We make our own choices and see them played out right here before us.

As for what I believe personally, it is a mixture of our spirits returning to the earth and reincarnation. We are all connected. Each one of us, a part of this sacred flowing river. When we die, we may leave these bodies but we never leave the river. Our spirit rejoins the collective energy, and either chooses to be reborn or chooses to stay as energy in the river.

There is no end. Death is merely a new beginning, one door closing and the next opening. It is the wheel of life, no begining no end. Its ever turning.
