Dianic

My Definition of Dianic~~
A pagan religion, Goddess focused, woman centered. Honoring the sacred feminine, and reclaiming Goddess worship and women's mysteries.

Paganism~~
the word pagan comes from the Latin word "paganus", meaning country dweller. It refered to those who lived in the rural areas, worshipped the old gods and practiced old religious customs and traditions that were not practiced by the greater society.
Now "pagan" refers to those who are not part of the more "common" religions, Christianity, Judaism, or Islam. But more general paganism is, earth centered spirituality, rooted and inspired by old religious practices and the traditions that surround them. Pagan religions have a polytheistic view of many gods and usually follow one or many different pantheons. Such as Native American Spirituality, Goddess Worship, Druids & the Celtic culture, also Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Norse, etc...

§Dianic§
The Dianic path is one focused on the Goddess. The Goddess is the source of all life and contains all within her. She is the weaver of the web of life as well as the web itself.

This Goddess path is named and inspired by that of the Goddess Diana (and Artemis her Greek aspect), the Roman deity of the wild and women. Embracing the untamed spirit, and independence we as women strive to make a part of our lives. As priestesses of the Goddess, we work to create a better world, one where the sacredness of life and nature are rightfully honored, and one where all people are treated equally with love and respect.

§Cycles§
Dianics view life in cycles, a never ending flow, the wheel of life, the circle. We attune ourselves to this flow of life, celebrating the changing seasons, and the journey of the moon as it changes from new to full and back again. Everything in nature follows this concept. The earths seasons which change from spring, summer, fall, and winter to spring once again. And as so we honor and recognize this change as the Solstices and Equinoxes and other cross quarter days. On these days we celebrate womens mysteries. The rites of passage and flow of life. Birth, menarche, giving birth and lactation, menopause, and death to be reborn again. These are the phases of our lives as women. These are our sacred mysteries. From being a young child, a maiden, recieving our first blood, feeling passion (in life or love), to giving birth (creativly, physically, or a birth of new ideas), becoming the protectress, maturation and menopause, the midwife or teacher, the crone, and death, to be reborn. It is the never ending flow. We celebrate the Goddess in our lives. Embracing womans mysteries and discovering the Goddess within.

§Women Only§
As a womans mysteries tradition, the Dianic path is open to woman only. As women we need to acknowledge the importance of these mysteries and share them with our sisters and daughters. It has nothing to do with hating men, or seperating us from men. It is women honoring what it means to be a woman, in a way only women could understand. Even though Dianics are very open and willing to teach and share the Goddess with everyone, women as well as men. We do not teach the mysteries or magick to men or allow men in our circles. Even though some women will do something seperate with thier partner/husband.

§Covens§
Dianics gather in circles or covens to celebrate and practice rituals. This is a sacred gathering to celebrate women, Our sisters, our daughters, mothers and grandmothers, and our ancestors. Every woman who has come before us, every woman who is her own Goddess. We create a sacred space for womens voices, and creativity to flow. We honor women and the Goddess in the arts, writing, poems and essays, dance and song, free speech, etc... Embracing womens inner strengths and talents, as we interpret thoughts into beauty.

Some Dianics do however, choose to practice alone as solitary witches. We know we can discover the Goddess within ourselves so we do not need to look to others or groups to find our spirituality.

We take charge of our bodies. Acknowledging that they are ours and a manifestation of the Goddess. And as so they are sacred and beautiful. Our Bodies are our altars and all acts of love and pleasure are our rituals.

§Goddess...§
We honor ourselfs as women and we honor our mother the Goddess, the weaver of this magickal sacred web. Our cycles, our mysteries are her mysteries. She is our teacher, our guide we just need to open our arms and embrace her.
