The Goddess

There is a divine essence, a spirit of the earth, of life, of the universe and all within it. Its genderless, not male or female energy for it is all. The perfect balance of all of life held within it. An omnipresent (present everywhere simultaneously) and immanent divine.

Immanence...
existing or remaining within

I see the Goddess as immanent, she has no other image hiding off somewhere, she is here now, with us a part of us. Unlike a transcedent deity (being above and independent of the material universe).

"People often ask me if I believe in the Goddess. I reply "Do you believe in rocks?" It is extremely difficult for most Westerners to grasp the concept of a manifest deity. The phrase "believe in" itself implies that we cannot know the Goddess, that She is somehow intangible, incomprehensible. But we do not believe in rocks -- we may see them, touch them, dig them out of our gardens or stop small children from throwing them at each other. We know them; we connect with them. In the Craft [Wicca, a neo-pagan religion], we do not believe in the Goddess -- we connect with Her; through the moon, the stars, the ocean, the earth, the trees, the animals, through other human beings, through ourselves. She is here. She is within us all."
Quoted by Starhawk

The Goddess is life, she is death and everything inbetween and beyond. Do I believe in her, what is there to believe? I feel her. I connect with her. I live her. There is nothing that isn't her. She is the rocks, the trees, the animals even people and then she is the breath we take, the love we share, the passion that pushes us, the feelings and memories.

Archetypes...
This essence is broken down into specific archetypes, in a polytheistic view of many gods. These archetypes are the symbols of our love, desires, whims, goals, needs, and wants. Archetypes are used to reflect our inner emotions and dreams. So we may better find and connect to the divine and ourselves.

The divine is all, and in everything but certain abstract emotions such as love, can not be reached out and touched. It comes from a deeper place where symbolism rules. So by creating an archetype to represent love, we can better understand and embrace it.

As a woman I embrace an archetype that I can connect with, a female presence, my Goddess. The sister, the daughter, mother, matriarch, lover, amazon, priestess, crone, and many more. Which I will get into more on my Goddess page.

So in this way I honor and worship the Goddess, in many forms, many faces. Borrowing from ancient cultures, the Celtic, Greek, Roman, Native American myths and more... lend to the sacred symbolism of the archetypes. We create these archetypes, we make them real to us. A specific goddess from some ancient religion isn't any better then one I create from my own image and thoughts. But because these gods are renown, it adds alittle more to them in a sense. Its part of the magick and the mystery.

Creation...
There is a flow to life, a balance, like a mellow river. The Goddess is this flow. I do not believe that She is some architect, designing and building the universe and all of life. She is more the push that gets it flowing, where it goes, it goes. She gave her gentle push, which led to millions of reactions of chemicals and who knows what and poof the universe, earth, life etc... Science can explain it better then me. Evolution took its course and here we are.

She doesn't control our lives, no tomorrow it will rain buttons, no if you pray x many times you will get whatever. Our lives are in our own hands and prey to the flow of the river. Hopefully we don't hit too many rocks.

I honor her, and in the same moment I honor life. All is sacred, and I rejoice in its many many gifts.
