Random Stuff

There are a lot of things about the game of PowerToss that just didn't necessarily fit into any particular category, so we're going to throw them all right here on the Random Stuff page.

Definitions
the lingo of powertoss

After just one game of playing with any serious PowerTossers, you'll no doubt start to hear some crazy, off-the-wall, sometimes nonsensical phrases. Well, you don't have to pick your brain trying to figure them out anymore. Here is your Official PowerToss Dictionary!

  • "Riding The Trough" / alt. forms (trough riding)     //     A style; Tossing the bottle low to the table, in a quick motion.

  • "Amplitude"     //     A style; Tossing the bottle high into the air.

  • "Rigor Mortis"     //     A style; Tossing the bottle while using stiff fingers and a stiff wrist, as if you had died and rigor mortis has set in. Rarely used, rigor mortis is sometimes used to break out of a cold streak or for showmanship.

  • "Crevassier"     //     The crack that runs down the middle of the fold-up tables in the cafeteria. It'll get you every time.

  • "The Claw"     //     A style; Used by Evan McCann; Tossing the bottle side-armed, holding it with the thumb and middle finger using the index finger as a guide.

  • "The Funk"     //     An extremely bad cold streak. The first official "funk" fell over Scot Russell and Mike Kopacko. Russell eventually broke the "funk," after which a mysterious green cloud appeared, then dissapated into the atmosphere. This event has reached mythical proportions. Now, when someone hits an extremely cold streak, it may be referred to as "The Funk."

  • "Grill Shot"     //     Tossing the bottle and sticking the landing directly in front of another player.

  • "Spooked" / atl. forms (to spook)     //     What happens to a player after a Grill Shot has been successfully attempted on him or her. In theory, a "spooked" player is off his game.

  • "Frequency"     //     A style; Tossing the bottle far away from oneself forward.

  • "Cap Shot"     //     Tossing the bottle and landing it on the cap, rather than the base. Nearly impossible. Nearly.

  • "Lightning Round"     //     Time towards the end of a period in which the winner is determined by the high scorer at the end of the period rather than the first-to-five format.

  • "Appleknocker"     //     A "rookie"; As coined by Ed. T. Cupp.

  • "Weight"     //     The amount and density of the liquid in the bottle.

  • "Stuck It" / alt. forms (to stick it)     //     Landing the bottle perfeclty flat on the playing surface, causing a loud smacking sound.

  • "Double Flip"     //     Tossing the bottle so it makes two revolutions (as opposed to the customary one) in mid-air. Not sanctioned.
