  A FINAL WORD

Set your expectations high; find men and women

whose integrity and values you respect;

get their agreement on a course of action;

and give them your ultimate trust.

- John Akers -

On this web site you have reviewed the traits that make up a person with high values as opposed to the traits of a person with low values.  Much of this information was not new to you because parents, schools, churches, and other people of quality throughout the world regularly teach values.  However, it is hoped that this structured approach will be helpful in your understanding of the importance of quality values to your overall success and happiness in life.

Real happiness depends upon your ability to get along with others, and your pride in your own positive accomplishments.  As a final reminder, good relations depend on:

*  being positive in your relations with others

*  settling conflicts without violence or hurtful attacks on others

*  being responsible for your obligations

While it is true that it would be a great world if everyone had "high values," please don't think that this means that we should all be alike.  There is plenty of room for people to have high values and still have vastly different personalities and opinions.  There are millions of Republicans with high values, and there are millions of Democrats with high values.  Yet there are often great differences in opinions between Democrats and Republicans on how the nation should be run.  Our differences can be a strength as long as we don't allow them to become destructive.

You are encouraged to form your own opinions and take your stands.  You will be respected and admired for your convictions as long as they are expressed within the standards that insure your personal integrity.

People of high character live up to a high moral standard because they know it is the right thing to do, not because of any rewards.  There are rewards though; real success and happiness come to people with integrity.  This type of success and happiness cannot be achieved any other way.

I did a favor yesterday,

A kindly little deed . . .

And then I called to all the world

To stop and look and heed.

They stopped and looked and flattered me

In words I could not trust,

And when the world had gone away

My good deed turned to dust.

A very tiny courtesy

I found to do today;

Twas quickly done, with none to see,

And then I ran away . . .

But Someone must have witnessed it,

For - truly I declare -

As I sped back the stony path

Roses were blooming there!
