The Lady Colonels found themselves with their backs up against the wall in this Blue Ridge District Consolation game against Northside. Maybe that's why they came out fighting and never stopped until the final buzzer sounded leaving them with a 54-49 win for 3rd place honors in the District and the right to advance to the Regional competition. Seniors Ashley Simmons and Janee Jennings and Junior Shayla Vance showed how they made the All District Teams. Simmons had 12 points, 6 rebounds, an assist, a steal and 7 defensive stops. Jennings had 8 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 7 good defensive plays. Vance had 12 points, 8 rebounds, an assist, 6 steals and 12 good defensive plays. Kim Foster scored 7 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, stole a pass and altered 3 shots. Brandi Smith chipped in 5 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 5 steals and 11 good defensive plays. Jazmine Carter added 5 points and 2 steals. Sade Robinson had a basket to complete the Fleming scoring.
Shayla Vance was selected for the All-Tournament Team!

The Lady Colonels advanced in the III Regional tourney by defeating Jefferson Forest 55-47. Ashley Simmons led the team with 15 points, 2 rebounds, blocked shots, assists and steals. Shayla Vance had 12 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and a blocked shot. Brittni Taylor added 11 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals and a blocked shot. Janee Jennings led the team with 9 rebounds and chipped in 9 points, 2 assists and a steal. Brandi Smith had 4 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Kim Foster contributed 2 points, 6 rebounds, a blocked shot, an assist and a steal. Sidra Johnson was 100% at the free throw line for her two points to go with her steal and 3 blocked shots.

The Lady Colonels bowed out of the iii Regional tourney with a 74-39 loss to Hidden Valley. Shayla Vance led Fleming with 11 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Janee Jennings had 8 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Ashley Simmons chipped in 7 points, 2 assists and a rebound. Brandi Smith added another 7 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocked shots and 1 steal. Kim Foster had 4 points, 1 block and 1 steal. Sade Robinson completed the scoring with 2 points. Sidra Johnson had 4 rebounds, stole two passes and blocked a shot. Brittni Taylor blocked 2 shots and grabbed a rebound.
The Lady Colonels were obviously upset by the loss, but hopefully, when they look back on this season, they will see how well they played and how much they improved just to make it this far in the tourney. Maybe then, they will be as proud of themselves as their coaches and fans are now.
