Intro: This is a classic game, from the days when a personal computer cost less than $300, didn't make any whirling fan noises, was embeded in the keyboard, came on when you turned it on and used your tv as a monitor-- from a time when just one or two clever persons could make a great commercial game-- when gameplay had to be more important than graphics. This is a game that is just as fun today as it was so many years ago, Laser Squad, predecessor to the famous X-Com series. This site profiles the port created for the Commodore64 computer (originally made for the Sinclair Spectrum). It is an old favorite game of many designed by famous British game creator Julian Gollop with additional help from Nick Gollop (and others helping for the many ports). You can enjoy it today on the same machine that you are viewing this page through the generosity of freeware and the magic of emulation . So, put away your fancy console for an hour or two, get some chips and a beverage and sit down for strategic futuristic marine squad based tactical quality entertainment (a mouthful of fun)-- and all in less than 1percent of the file size of current games. |
