Rumors of the Return
Useful Rumors
Next I will introduce you to the rumor mill of Helsport. Like any such gossip, the source should always be suspect. Do not underestimate the importance of gossip however. One player has able to take a very weak character to unbelievable heights simple by creating what a mounted to his own propaganda ministry. TheDaily Rag Yes, that is the name of the daily broadsheet printed in Helsport. Having a daily newspaper of sorts is one of the reasons for Helsport being famous. Another reason itis famous is that all citizens are required to subscribe to the Rag. While it used to be delivered free of charge to many homes now you are forced to retrieve your own copy. If you travel to the Government district, you will be able to pickup a copy for free at the Printing office, which is also where your papermoney is made. If you are like most people though, you will buy a copy from the local crier, who makes a daily predawn trip to the Government district and collects copies that he will gladly sell you. The Rag is a valuable resource. Government announcements are made here, such as arrests and summons, traders both items for sale and requests to buy items. Then there is formal government pronouncements. If there is a new curfew in the city you will not learn about it from a town crier, you should read of it here in the Rag as you sip your morning coffee. Most information that you will read in the Rag can be considered true, however there is a strong party line, and you can often learn more about the city by what is not being printed in the paper.
