A Few People To Avoid
All right you think things can not get any more
convoluted and difficult. Well, there are several N.P.C.'s and groups ofthe
same that you should avoid until you feel you are powerful enough to go
head to head and at least break even with them.
The first person you should avoid is a knight
named Arrowsmith. He is the head of the Templars and has a few nasty habits
to boot. He has been known to enter the more impoverished districts of
the Slum district and lay hands upon the more destitute inhabitants. They
rarely survive.
Another person you should avoid is Crown Prince
Otto. He is rumored to be slightly mad. If you should meet up with any
of the Black Rangers, well lets just say you will most likely die unless
you have managed to become quite powerful. Beware also of the press gangs.
Now that trade is becoming more common again, captains are desperate for
warm bodies to crew their still idle ships with.
While not lethal, the gnome traders should
bedealt with out of a position of respect. Remember in this world a good
model for how to interact with the gnomes would be to consider how Japanese
industrialists of our world stereotypically want to be treated.
Then of course there is the High Sage who should
be considered as being beyond most characters mental understanding. If you
go to him realize that what might be important to you might be trivial to
him. If you do run across Miskovar be aware that he is going to be more
likely to send you to the depths of the Citadel, than to the more comfortableWhite
Tower. I know that your initial reaction to the city will be to seekout
and confront the more powerful inhabitants of Helsport, but resist the urge
until you have both the strengths to deal equally with them and posses some
bargaining chips to play with.
