FROM MY OLD BLOG: I have just did a little experiment with my E. I put it in front of a little box, it started to climb in, and when I put the flashlight's light inside of the box, it decided not to go into the box. My conclusion: Hermit crabs like to go into dark places more than lighted places.

So I now have an idea with finding them: Make the room dark, and watch for them. Sit still. They might come out. Put some food out, too.

Places to check:
Radiator
Under the Couch
Under the Bed
Nooks
Crannies
On the curtains (if they are climbable)
under the couch pillows
Any dark place
