Objectives: Students will be able to identify rotations, reflections, and translations Students will be able to apply the terms and theorems for transformations Students will be able to identify and find lines or symmetry and rotational symmetry
Materials: Lines of symmetry and rotational symmetry worksheet
Activity: Teacher reviews reflections, rotations, and translations (10 Min) Go over definitions Go over some examples In-Class Practice (20 Min) p. 344 (1-4) p. 365 (11-14) p. 369 (8-12) Students work in pairs on symmetry worksheet Identify types of symmetry found in each design If reflectional symmetry: tell how many lines of symmetry and draw them If rotational symmetry: tell the rotations Students will share answers with rest of class (10 Min) Teacher calls on pairs of students to share their results Closing (5 Min) Teacher answers any further questions students may have about the test
Assessment: Informal Listen to comments made during different activities Formal Grade the Qu-est from following day |
