Luxor Temple

Luxor Temple was devoted to Amen Ra, the sun god.  It was built by the pharoahs Amenhotep and Rameses II.  It is called a "temple", but it's actually more like a "temple complex". After passing the main entrance (shown below, 1st picture), you procede through open areas that contain mini-temples. The above picture depicts the ruins of some of the inner-temple shrines.

Notice the obelisks in the pictures above and below. Look familiar? The Washington monument in DC is the exact type of structure, copied from the architecture of the Egyptians.
