Scout Dangers
If you have taken an interest in base killing with your scout or it is simply required of you to base kill for a specific map, the mine could be one of your most lethal enemies. With a high damage count and enough explosive power to send your scout 50 meters into this air, you must always keep an eye out for stray mines. One of the first base moves made by the standard player is to lay a minefield around their base. Of course, for a scout, this is devastating. A mine has detonating radius large enough to take in a bypassing scout. In other words, if you spot a mine by keen eye or radar, sweep slightly wider of it than you think is necessary just in case. Two mine collisions and your scout has reached the end of the line with each mine hit doing 300 hit points in damage! Although the obvious answer is to obliterate any and all mines with your repair beam, the mine has a semi-cloaking device not unlike the power cell. This makes targeting these nuisances difficult.
Among the various weapons held by tanks alone, caltrops can be one of the most irritating and deadly. In any skirmish against an enemy unleashing caltrops, be sure to always keep moving. Specifically circling your enemy or bypassing them while the caltrops follow you and then turning around to make another sharp bypass over your opponent can help to momentarily get the ever tireless pursuit of caltrops off of you. It is easy to overlook a single caltrop for its meager if not pathetic explosion upon contact. However, in packs of at least ten or fifteen they are a force to be reckoned with. They will chase your vehicle for approximately thirty seconds with their magnetic attraction upon release. The suggested strategy to defeat these units is to defeat or attempt to defeat the tank who unleashed the caltrops if he/she is still attacking you. If you accomplish this task, deal with the caltrops by circling them if you are low on fuel until they run out of time or if you have the fuel, press the "`" to clear your targeter and circle them briefly into a cluster. Achieving that, aim your crosshairs at the cluster and tear them apart with your chain gun before following up with using "u" to target the few remaining caltrops and use your autolocking repair beam to eliminate the threat.
