| Aspects of the Chain Gun |
| Range: The chain gun, a powered down autocannon that assists the scout in high speed fighting. At 350 meters maximum range, the scout primary weapon is no where near the most feared weapon. Its uses are limited, as mines, missiles, caltrops, and longer range targets are taken by the repair beam with its autolock. Therefore, use its small range to tear at the hull of a base unit, tank, or scout. With this poor range however, it is suggested you not use the chain gun until you have closed in past 275 meters. Otherwise, the fuel burned by moving and firing the chain gun with a low enough accuracy for the distance is not worth it. Stick to watching your fuel so you have a good idea how much you can deplete on getting to your target quickly before attacking them all out. As mentioned with the repair beam, try and hold off on using the repair beam when in close combat for the fuel it takes away from the more damaging chain gun. Combat: The only combat worth using the chain gun for is close combat. As a matter of fact, even using the chain gun its maximum range you will be doing what a tank considers close combat. To fully exploit the capabilities of the chain gun, just raise your altitude a good 3/4 of the way when attacking an enemy and get within 50 meters so you are able to aim downward for maximum accuracy. Do not fret if you are having trouble keeping your crosshairs on the target, it takes a good deal of time to be able to adjust to holding your crosshairs steady on specific terrains. |
