ARE YOU WORTHY, MAN U 02.03.2003 Battle of Britain Fully Redeemed Next Page It is the Worthington Cup Final this weekend, a final between 2 traditional English giants whom have the most fan base in England and possibly in the world. What an irony for a competition that was (and probably still is) belittled by teams playing their reserve team and not putting in any effort in the game! This trend is started by none other than one of the teams playing this weekend, and you have guessed it, the Scums (Man U)! My question to the Scums are: Are you worthy of winning the cup for starting the trend to devalue the cup although you stated you want to win it this year? Liverpool, to be impartial, are also putting in the reserves for the early stages of the tournament. However, GH has always stated his intention to win no matter what the competition is. Yep, I may be a bit bias on this… However, based on the performances in these few months, are you worthy of winning the cup? Who are the Liverpool players worthy of wearing the famous red jersey next season from the abysmal performance at some games this season, such as against Birmingham and Newcastle? Many Liverpool fans, including myself, have been tearing our hair out watching the display.
One player whom many Liverpool fans felt worthy of a place in Liverpool is Danny Murphy. He has been our player of the year so far, evidenced by the goals he created for St Mike in the last 2 games against Auxerre and Birmingham. Liverpool fans would also be heartened by his frankness that he would not be using any excuses for the poor performance of the team. It was also good to see Owen back scoring goals. To be fair, he has not been getting the rub of the green and this has thus affected his confidence. His reaction after scoring the goal against Birmingham was evidence of the tension inside him. Slur Alex was among the crowd in the Auxerre game, he will be taking notes about Owen and Murphy. Regarding the rest of the team, besides Riise and Dudek, are they worth mentioning?
