(Houllier: Owen is made for Cup Finals)
Liverpool has finally salvaged their season by winning the "Worthless" Cup from bitter neighbouring rivals Manchester United. Gerard Houllier proves he still has what it takes to lead a successful team like Liverpool, to their 7th win of the former League Cup. What a day for the Liverpudians as they finally see light at the end of a long and dark tunnel.
Gerard Houllier must be one of the most fascinating character in the Premier League, though I cannot say the same for the brand of boring football that he has brought to Liverpool FC. More than a year ago, he had suffered from a heart attack but he recovered from the brink of death. This season, Houllier unfortunately sees his Liverpool's chance of clinching the Premiership title diminishes as they went through a 3-month slump without winning a premiership match. But today, Houllier must be the happiest and the most relieved man on earth when Liverpool wrenched the Worthington Cup from Man U by winning the Final 2 - 0 at Cardiff.
With a place in the UEFA Cup competition already guaranteed, hopefully Liverpool will be able kickstart their campaign to improve their standing in the Premiership. Let's hope it is still not too late for the raging Reds to clinch a Champions League berth to round off the season.
