Volunteers are welcome to complete any number of projects. Volunteers are encouraged to create their own projects based on their individual strengths, knowledge, and interest. Assistance, including interpreters, is provided to help the volunteers in the realization of these projects. Students are also welcome to complete the practical research for their degrees. Many students working for social service, special education, and physiotherapy degrees have utilized the resources of the organization to complete their educational requirements. In addition to the Hostel, KOGS has connections to many other NGO projects for students doing their practical experience, including hospitals, women's rights groups, AIDS clinics, street children groups, and environmental organizations. All students and volunteers can be placed where their interests lie.

Volunteers are always welcome to use their knowledge to assist any of the numerous projects, or to create their own. Any type of skill can be utilised. Specialists can be involved in training field workers and special education teachers.

Volunteers can teach English, computer skills, basic health and sanitation to the hostel children and villagers. For example, they can teach sex education as the current education system in India provides none, and this is important information to help the children understand what happens to their bodies as they grow up. There is always a need for tutors to assist in the children's education, for all subjects

Volunteers can help to construct public utilities such as toilets, water access points, houses, etc., they also can impart some type of vocational skill that helps to do the same.

People with computer skills can assist in creating websites for the projects, brochures, as well as newsletters for the projects.

Volunteers should also feel free to come with their own ideas, or to device them after observing the local programs and situations.

Past

Volunteers in the past have completed numerous projects. Some have worked to improve the hostel grounds, painting the building, installing tile in the bathrooms, creating a playground, installing a water filter, etc. Some have given training and help to start the Day care center for CP children. Others have given physiotherapy to many children with Cerebral Palsy and children deformed by polio, and some have given training to special teachers on how to educate deaf and blind children, and how to educate their parents on raising a child with these needs. Many projects are available and the staff is always willing to help volunteers on individual projects.
