For the Hurting Christian

Dear Brother or Sister in Christ,

The Lord has lovingly brought you here so that you will know His truth that will set you free. Have you tried to get free of sin by (each good in their proper role) more prayer, self denial, Bible Study, church functions, counseling, etc ? It has all been to no avail. Hasn't it? You've been left frustrated, confused, ashamed or defeated. You even may wonder if the Lord still loves you. Yes, He does! Please read the following carefully. Your journey to complete freedom in Him has begun!

The Struggle

Paul, the apostle struggled bitterly with the flesh and failed miserably, too (Romans 7), and so did I. Many Christians are also today, and, are unfortunately, left hiding behind hurting facades. These sins that plague can be those of unrighteousness and/or self-righteousness (judgementalism, superiority or religious effort (anything we do to try to make us acceptable to God on our own terms) ).

Many of you will recall that you were saved by believing in only what Christ did for you on the cross. I was pointed to Isa 53. You and I had nothing to offer God for our salvation other than believing that Jesus paid for all our sins (past, present and future) on His cross. 2000 years ago. As for me, when I put my trust in the Lord to forgive all my sins, I was literally "blasted" with the Holy Spirit. Previous to salvation, I had thought that I had to earn my way to heaven. On the second day of my salvation the Lord, through tears of forgiveness, told me that "it's thousands of years of thousands of lies upon thousands of lies." I asked Him why He told me that. I got no answer - UNTIL NOW!

As Salvation Was Received, So Is Sanctification

Your Freedom - Sanctification by the Spirit - Not by You!

Paul wrote to the Colossians, "So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him" (Col 2:6). How did you receive salvation and Christ Jesus? Was it not only by believing in (faith) what Christ did on the cross for you.?. Anything else? No! And now by continually believing only in what Jesus did on the cross for you can you experience sanctifying freedom. This believing in the finished work of the Cross, is the only way and "means" by which the Holy Spirit works on your behalf for He totally respects The Son's work on the cross. He can work no other way to set you free, and fill you with joy and overcoming power. Your own efforts are of the flesh (of no use as you have found out), and He will in no way work with the flesh. He will not violate His own law. What is His law? For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death (Rom 8:2). In Christ, as Paul wrote above - in Him, defines everything accomplished and purchased for us as a result of His going to the Cross in our stead.

The Result of Having the Cross as the Proper Object of Our Faith

Col 2:7 Rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. What did Paul teach them? He taught them about the cross. He was gripped by Christ's cross.

But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. (Gal 6:14) Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? (Rom 6:3) - the result -

Joy Unspeakable and Full of Glory

1 Pet 1:8 So believing (only in what Jesus did on the cross), ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.

The Holy Spirit DELIGHTS TO work on your behalf , and bring you to freedom as you trust in what Christ did on the cross for you. You will be rejoicing as He takes those evil desires you hate completely away! Experience the Power! Experience the Joy! Experience the King of Glory! You'll be thanking Jesus a million times for His matchless love!
