Reflections
- Why is this standard important?
Assessments and measurement of student achievement have
become ever more important in today's classrooms.
Teachers must provide this information as one of their primary duties.
Technology is available that makes this process much easier.
As a Technical Facilitator it is important to ease the teachers' burden
by providing easy, updatable assessment tools.
- Why have you included each artifact or link?
I included reading assessment spread sheet because it directly applies
to standards TF. IV. A. and B. in that it uses technology tools to collect
and analyze data, and then assess student improvement.
I have included the web quest rubric because it is a rubric for a technology
assignment and it clearly shows the teachers how to put together such an
assignment and how to assess it.
- How does this artifact demonstrate that you are a competent and effective technology educator?
These artifacts show that I can not only put together a lesson based on
standards and using technology, but that I can also assess a technology
lesson appropriately, and use technology to assess students in areas where
technology is not part the lesson. The idea is to use the technology to aid
in assessment. I can do that.
- How might you use this artifact in your future as a technology facilitator or leader?
As a Technical Facilitator, I will use technology to ease the burden
of teachers so that they can easily create the assessments that they need
to show that their students are learning.
- How will you continue to develop you proficiency with this standard?
To continue to develop under this standard, I will assess various
technologies that help to analyze information , so that student evaluation
becomes even easier as the technology becomes available.
Artifacts:
Artifact 1: To accommodate the requirements of TF.IV.A thru C:
I have created and published a excel spread sheet to assess reading capabilities.
This
reading assessment spread sheet can be found at
"http://sheet.zoho.com/public.do?docurl=yTRqFKPUvbpUkckoK9mZrA%3D%3D&name=dRrEbnPly3r%2BuVm31GQvyw%3D%3D"
As this spread sheet shows, by viewing the information
a teacher gets a better view of which skills need strengthening. The
explanation for this spread sheet is found at
http://writer.zoho.com/public/catnap25/4th-Grade--Literacy-Assessment1/script".
Artifact 2: In addition, I have used rubrics when modeling sample lessons.
a
rubric for a web quest on the trail of tears for
7th grade students is available, along with all the other information in this sample
lesson at http://www.kljerometeach.com/trailrubric.html.
