 Teacher Professionalism

Reflection

Only through self-reflection am I able to grow and develop as teacher.  I wish to always learn and grow in this profession.  I chose teaching because it is one of the few professions where necessity demands I continuously learn and adapt to new methods, new guidelines and new students.  My best experiences in teaching have come through working with other teachers, brainstorming ideas, confiding difficulties and sharing lesson plans.  Parents, I am certain, can be an equally valuable resource, which I am still struggling to fully incorporate.  Unless the student is failing, parent-teacher conferences rarely happen.  Now that I have settled more in my position, I am making more and more strides to invite parents to get involved.
