Assignments and grades
Your
quarter grade for this class is calculated as follows:
Assignments
30%
Projects 30%
Tests
and quizzes 30%
Participation 10%
Overall,
assessment in this class is based on completion, accuracy and effort. Assignments will be daily, and generally, can
be completed within class time. Most
assignments will be saved to the student’s file on their assigned laptop. Current Events will be a weekly assignment,
see below for more details. Tests and
quizzes will cover basic terms and concepts covered in a unit. Projects will require application of the
unit’s concepts. Participation is
calculated on a weekly basis. Each
student starts the week with a 100%.
Five points are lost each time a student is asked to correct his or her
behavior. As a reward for perfect
behavior, 3 additional participation points will be added per each perfect day.
In the event of absences, tests must be made
up within 1 week of the return to class.
Projects and assignments will be extended only the number of class days
a student was absent. Grades will be
posted by your students “ID” number-- a completely random and secret number
both in the classroom and at www.freewebs.com/klewineland
Deadlines: All Projects will have posted deadlines that
MUST be met if a student would like it graded.
ALL CURRENT EVENTS ARE DUE ON WEDNESDAY!
NO EXCEPTIONS. Assignments will
also have declared due dates. These will
be accepted late with a 10% penalty per day. Instead of “turning in” the
assignment, student must sign the “to grade” list. All assignments may be corrected for an
improved grade if you meet the following guidelines 1) assignment completed on
time 2) corrections saved with “C” in the file name, 3) sign corrections onto
the “Recheck” list
Students may make up work if they have extra
time in class, or they may come to the computer lab during production (Monday,
Wednesday, Friday only). Student must
obtain pass that morning.
Current Events: Current events are due every Wednesday. You may complete additional current events to
“work ahead.” You may also submit up to 2 additional current event assignments
for extra credit during the semester.
The requirements:
Read 1 article about technology (at least 350
words) from a periodical resource (newspaper or magazine). The source must be no more than 3 weeks old. Write: the name of the article, the author,
the source and the day printed. Answer
whether you enjoyed the article, why/not.
Then write a minimum 5 sentence summary of the article.
Should you have any questions or concerns, do
not hesitate to contact me. Best of
wishes for a spectacular second semester.
