History of the
Kappa Iota Zeta Chapter 
 

The Kappa Iota Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority was founded in 1980. The chapter is comprised of more than 80 college-educated professional women from Metro Atlanta and the outlying county areas.  

The chapter was chartered on September 15, 1980 in Atlanta. there were eleven charter members: Sorors Lacey Alford, Carolyn Austin, Leila Coleman, Haroldine Crowder, Thelma Duncan (Lester), Cornelia Glass, Ola Hill, Marynette Lovejoy, Hazel Owens, Bettye Shelling and Gwendolyn Wyatt.   
        
The chapter is the co-owner of the Sigma/Zeta Foundation, a building in Atlanta, with the Epsilon Zeta chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. and the Lambda Sigma chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.   

Kappa Iota Zeta is one of seven graduate chapters in the metro Atlanta area. Our fellow graduate chapters are Epsilon Zeta Chapter, Iota Eta Zeta Chapter, Omicron Kappa Zeta Chapter, Rho Epsilon Zeta Chapter, Rho Xi Zeta Chapter, and Xi Xi Zeta Chapter.
