Jane Lane

Jane is Daria's best friend. Like most best friends, she and Daria are similar in more ways than one. Both of them are not popular in school and are both cynical towards life. They like eating pizza and watching Sick, Sad World. But obviously enough, they're not carbon copies of each other. Jane enjoys jogging, something that requires much movement, while Daria prefers to just sit and do her own thing. Jane has more passion, more drive. It probably comes from being an artist. She spends most of her time painting, sketching and sculpting, even when Daria comes over.

One more thing that makes Jane different from Daria is her need to interact with the opposite sex. She is way ahead when it comes to adventures with boys (Bobby, Evan, Tom, Nathan...just to name a few.) Maybe it's the reason why she and Daria didn't speak for a while during the summer when Daria and Tom got hitched. In addition to being stubborn, she couldn't believe that Daria snagged a boy that she had first.

But in fairness, Jane is a good friend. She never really embarrassed Daria seriously and she helps her get out of sticky situations.

As of now, Jane has graduated from Lawndale High. She has been accepted at Boston Fine Arts College.
