At Drop-in parents/caregivers have a chance to chat while the children play in a clean, safe environment. There is a craft of the week, playdough and paints supplied. A healthy snack is provided for the children while the parents may help themselves to a tea or coffee. There are information pamplets, calenders, a newsletter and child activity books available. We ask you to please sign-in when you arrive for we need to keep count of the people using the centre. We only ask for your first name.
Your Ideas and Suggestions are greatly appreciated. Workshops, information sessions, and parenting programs will be planned as requested by parents. If there is a topic you would like to learn more about or a workshop or program related to parenting that you would like to take part in, please let staff know. You may also use the suggestion box on the sign-in table. Your ideas for improving the Centre are most welcome. Growth and change is made possible through both positive and negative feedback. Please feel free to approach staff if you have any concerns about Kids First. Also, staff are knowledgeable regarding community agencies that may be of assistance with personal problems. Concerns regarding staff can be brought to the: Regional Co-ordinator, Michelle Ward at 1-902-396-4455.

Confidentiality
We respect your confidentiality. We ask that parents/caregivers also respect the confidentiality of other parents/caregivers who use the Centre. Staff will not give out information about you or your child to anyone without your written consent. If a child is being abused or suspected of being abused, the law states that the appropiate agencies must be called.
Guidelines
Kids First staff are here to offer support and provide the kinds of programming parents request. You are responsible for caring for your children at all times while in the Centre. We do not provide child care. Children must be accompanied by an adult while in the play room, kitchen, craft area, or the washroom. Children are not permitted in the office.
We encourage everyone to use "indoor" voices in the centre to allow everyone to be heard. There is no pushing, hitting, swearing, biting, or spanking allowed. We suggest a brief period of quiet time if discipline is necessary. Staff are here to support you.
Kitchen
We ask that participants help with snack, cleanup, and dishes. Food and drinks for children must be kept in the kitchen. Coffee or tea is available for adults. These drinks are hot! Care and caution is needed if these drinks are taken to the playroom. Please use the cups and covers available. Return the cups to the kitchen when you are finished.
Bathroom
All children must have a parent/caregiver with them in the bathroom. Please encourage your children to wash his/her hands with soap and water.
Illness
When your child has an illness that is contagious, please do not come to the Centre. This includes if your child has a fever, vomiting, chickenpox, mumps, rash, strep throat, diarrhea, measles, impetigo, pink eye, scabies, or head lice.
Playroom
Please help your child(ren) tidy up the playroom and craft area before you leave.
Snack Time
During each drop-in, a free snack is served by staff and volunteer participants to the children. Please let us know if your child has any food allergies. The snack must be kept in the kitchen.
