Welcome! To Kids First Family Resource Centre - Guysborough. The Centre is a place where children ages newborn to age six along with parents/caregivers can gather to have fun free of charge. We provide information and programs to help support parents. The Program Co-ordinator is Mary Armstrong.

We are people just like you, who care about children and know how precious they are. Being a parent is one of the biggest jobs in the world, no one needs to do it alone when we can get together and share the load.
What do we do? Families come in many different shapes and sizes with different needs. If you are interested in a particular program, please let us know and we will try to provide them. Parents have suggested the following:

  • Drop-in: For those "hair pulling" days! Drop in and have tea or coffee with us and chat with other parents. Take a break with us! You can relax while your child enjoys fun activities with other children. Each month a calender is available showing the drop-in events.
  • Parent Co-op: An opportunity for children to experience learning in a small group setting. This program is run by the parents and is for children who are entering the school system in the upcomong year or two and cannot access preschool programs in their area.
  • Rural Outreach Programs: Kids First Family Resource Programs are for everyone, anywhere in the county.....Kids First Family Resource Center offers programs to all Guysborough County. Our office and drop-in center is located in the Chedabucto Education Center in Guysborough. The coordinator of Kids First will bring programs and resources to any area of the county.

Kids First also offers other programs such as:

  • Building a Healthy Baby
  • Kindergym
  • Mothergoose
  • Parents Craft Night
  • Parenting Programs
  • Facilitator Training

Volunteers
Interested volunteers are welcome on a regular basis or once in awhile. It is a great opportunity to meet wonderful people and learn about their children and parenting. This experience can be rewarding.

Parents Responsibility
Children are the responsibility of parents and caregivers who bring them. Parents are to supervise their children at all times. Their is no cost for any of our programs. If you would like to make a loonie donation for snacks, it is greatly appreciated. Donations of toys, books and children's equiptment is also appreciated. We are a non-profit organization and any donation is welcome. We can provide a tax receipt.
