A
view of West Point from a UH1 Helicopter. Looks like the boots could use a
little polish!
In
1975, I got the chance to attend the US Army Institute for Advanced Russian and
East European Studies in Garmisch, Germany. What a great 1 month assignment. I'm
3rd from right in this picture.
Almost
everyone who attends West Point ends up at Airborne School sooner or later. The
advantage to the Army was that they didn't have to give us jump pay if we went
while still cadets. Good Deal!
Near
Garmisch is the Zugspitz, the tallest mountain in Germany. I didn't jump this
time.
Graduation Day was June 8,
1977

Going from a First Classman (senior) at West Point to a 2LT in
the Army can be a bit deflating, but at least you can grow some facial hair.
