The Republican Party

A PROUD MOMENT - MEETING A GREAT AMERICAN!

I think that this country is in trouble. Lots of people have ideas about how we can lower crime, increase learning in our schools, keep our military strong, protect our freedom, and insure that we all have a fair chance to make decent lives for ourselves and our families. After looking over both major political parties and their platforms some years ago, I decided to change my voter registration from Democrat to Republican. Actually, when I registered to vote as a Democrat at 18, I really had no idea about what each party stood for. But as I grew older and became concerned and involved, I came to realize that I have very little in common with today's Democrat Party. There are certainly many registered Democrats who care for our country as much as I, but I sincerely believe that the Democrat Party leadership today has an agenda that has drifted far from what it was 30 years ago. The Republican Party, on the other hand, still seems to hold to the important principles of dignity, honor, patriotism and  personal responsibility. I have a lot of difficulty with people who cannot understand that the freedoms we enjoy in the United States incur grave personal duties and responsibilities which cannot be ignored.

Those who don't vote have no right to complain. Further, those who vote and don't even know who or what they are voting for may deserve even more scorn than those who don't bother to vote at all.

You don't have to agree with me on any of this. I'll respect your opinions as I hope you will respect mine. But it is undeniable that we are able to express our opinions because of the sacrifices our soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines made. We should honor our veterans, and we must always maintain a strong military to protect our freedoms. It is still a dangerous world, even as we enter a new millennium. Whether we like it or not, America currently holds the reins of world leadership, and if we relinquish this position, it is very likely that we may find ourselves very unhappy with whatever country steps in to call the shots.

Gerald Ford.jpg (19390 bytes)I met this guy over in Kirch Gons, Germany, when I was on Cadet Troop Leader Training (CTLT) in July 1975. At the time I was a Democrat, but later, I found out that it's curable!

The Republican Party of Florida is another good place to go to get the straight story:

And there's always the old standby, the Republican National Committee, headed by Jim Nicholson, who is also a 1961 USMA graduate:
