| Hualien City and Surrounding Area |
| Hualien City and Local Area Since Hualien is my home base, this is the only city that will be covered on this web site. If you need information about any other Taiwanese city, the Lonely Planet guide book is more than adequate. Hualien is the largest city on the east coast. It is a center for tourism, as it is close to Taroko Gorge, the East Coast, and the Hua-Tong Valley. Local Parks/Recreational areas include Liyu Lake, Chishingtan Beach, Meiluen Mountain Park, Nanbin Park, and a new park being built next to the Hualien Lighthouse. The city has been working to improve the parks around town by installing improved facilities, such as new walking paths and bicycling routes. It is now possible to bicycle from Nanbin park up through the Hualien Port area. If you find yourself in Hualien overnight, there are a few pubs/restaurants which are worth mentioning. These will be also covered here with the able assistance of the local experts in thse areas. |
