To achieve a bizarre and dramatic effect, and may even liven up a dull portrait or picture. Filters are used on a normal pictures to give the image false and synthetic colours. These filters include colour shifts (polarization), solarization so the picture is all the shades of one colour, a negative image, or filtering different areas of a pictures in different colours. The Pop Artist, Andy Warhol, is a great exponent of using false colours. He is most famously know for his painting of Marilyn Monroe, changing her hair to a bright orange and bright pink skin. |
