When the background light is weak, the shadows in the picture begin to dominate the picture giving the picture a bold and rich feel. Naturally dark colours such as violet, black or blue are normally used to produce this effect.
To make a more dramatic picture, dark yellows or low sunlight may be used to highlight the edges of the object in the picture.
