Using colours in the same part of the colour wheel provides a picture with harmony, creating a natural and calm mood.

Warm colours such as Yellows and Oranges has is lively combination, where as Cold Colours such as Blues and Purples will form a dull combination.

Good combinations will be tones of brown to link autumn reds and greens, pale blue-grey mist to link blues and greens.
