SELF EMPLOYMENT SCHEMES

As we use Zakat (Islamic way of distribution of wealth) to promote education, so we do to help needy people have occupations for their livelihood. Men and women, both benefited from the Trust's Self Employment Scheme. Under this scheme, fifteen sewing machines were distributed and seven women and ten men were given supports in the year 2000.

  1. Poultry Farming: The details respecting this scheme have already been given under "Uplift of Women". However, women have more benefited from this scheme than men.
  2. Sewing machine: Men and women equally avail themselves of this scheme of the Trust; 15 persons were given help in this kind, this year.
  3. Stalls: Besides help received by vegetable hawkers and peddlers of plastic goods, fifteen other men set up their stalls of beverages or fast foods. This year the help, which in terms of money is to the tune of Rs. 2000/- per recipient, was provided to 32 persons. The aid given under the Self Employment Scheme is usually in kinds and is non refundable. The guarantors of the male and female recipients of the Trust's aid maintain a vigilance.
  4. Toolkit: Skilled persons, like tailors, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, blacksmiths etc., whether qualifying from our own technical training institutions or from else where or experienced but unemployed seekers of help, are given tool kits instead and are urged to make earnings with labour. The aid, given in whatsoever kind, is non-refundable. We helped nine persons to establish themselves so far, by the grace of God.
