The Crime Web: Murder calendar

The killer's first murder occurred in the city of Köln. 10 year old Christine Klein is found in her bed. "I broke into a house in the Wolfstrasse an inn owned by Klein and went up to the first floor. I opened different doors and found nothing worth stealing; but in the bed I saw a sleeping girl of about 10"

Kürten seized the girl by the neck and with both hands throttled her. The child struggled for some time before unconsciousness and Kürten then drew her head over the edge of the bed and penetrated her genitals with his fingers.

"I had a small but sharp pocket knife with me and I held the child's head and cut her throat. I heard the blood spurt and drip on the mat beside the bed. It spurted in an arch, right over my hand. The whole thing lasted about three minutes. Then I went locked the door again and went back home to Düsseldorf."

The child's corpse was pallid. There was hardly any post-mortem staining and the tongue was severely bitten. On the throat there were two wounds separated from each other; the one shallow, only 1 to 2 mm deep; the other deep, 9 cm in length. The upper wound suggested a single stroke, the lower wound had been made by four movements.

"Skip" Sirnic, 46, and his wife, Karen, 47, bludgeoned to death in the church's parsonage, located near railroad tracks on May 2, 1999. Police say the couple was struck with a sledgehammer from the garage.

	1966	Myra Hindley and Ian Brady	Hindley and Brady are found guilty of the murders of Edward Evans and Lesley Ann Downey. They were sentenced to life in prison.
	1990	Aileen Wournos	The body of an unidentified male was found naked in Brooks County, GA, close to Interstate 75 and just across the state line from Florida. Two .22 calibre slugs were found in the remains, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation had no leads as to the identity of their mysterious corpse.
May 6	1928	Werner Boost	Boost is born in Germany.
	1963	Albert DeSalvo	Beverly Samans, a 23-year-old graduate student from Cambridge is raped and was believed to have died by stab wounds to the throat although she had also been strangled.
	1974	Ted Bundy	20 year old Roberta Parks agrees to walk to another dorm hall to have coffee with friends. She never arrived. Her skull was excavated with the others on Taylor Mountain.
May 7	1972	Edmund Kemper	Mary Ann Pesce and Anita Luchese were students at Fresno State College, and they were hitchhiking to Stanford University after a couple of days in Berkeley. They never reached their destination. They are picked up by Kemper. After driving them around for a bit, he took his gun out from under the seat and pulled off into a deserted area. He put Anita in the trunk of his car and turned his attention toward Mary Ann. He handcuffed her, laid her across the backseat face down, put a plastic bag over her head, then attempted to strangle her with a length of terrycloth. But she bit a hole in the bag and the cloth snapped. Frustrated, Edmund pulled out his knife and stabbed her repeatedly. Eventually, he slashed her throat. He removed Anita from the trunk and, with a larger knife, he began to stab her. She fought and screamed, but he eventually won. He drove around with the bodies in the car for a while, deciding what to do. Eventually he brought Mary Ann’s body into his apartment, where he undressed and dissected her. He also beheaded Anita’s body. Mary Ann’s body was buried in the plastic bag he’d used to try to suffocate her. He kept both their heads for a while, eventually disposing of them in a ravine.

May 9	1989	John Glover	84 year old Lady Winfreda Ashton is found dead. She had been strangled with her pantyhose. The marks had cut so deep into her skin that it left fibres imbedded in her skin. She had also been hit in the head with a hammer and beaten so brutally she sustained several broken ribs.
May 10	1978	Fred and Rose West	Shirley Robinson is murdered while living with the Wests. She was pregnant with Fred's child when she is killed.
May 11	1989	Andrei Chikatilo	Eight year old Sasha Dyakonov is Chikatilo's next victim, the boy is murdered the day after his birthday
May 12	1984	Andrei Chikatilo	Chikatilo kills a mature woman again, this time the victim is 32 year old Tanya Petrosyan, one of his former lovers. he also murders her young daughter, eleven year old Sveta.

May 14	1988	Andrei Chikatilo	Chikatilo murdered nine-year old Lyosha Voronko near the Ilovaisk Railway station and the body is found later the same day.
	1985	Richard Ramirez	William and Lillie Doi are murdered by Ramirez. William is how in the head, while Lillie is stripped, beaten and raped.

May 16	1978	Peter Sutcliffe	Peter Sutcliffe and Vera Millward drove to an area frequented by prostitutes and their customers. After getting out of the car, Sutcliffe attacked her with a hammer, and Vera tried to fight him off. After he had killed her with hammer blows, Sutcliffe dragged her to a spot by a fence, and began to stab her with a knife.
	1987	Andrei Chikatilo	Thirteen year old Oleg Makerenkov is murdered near the village of Revda near Siberia. The remains stay unrecovered until Chikatilo leads police to them after his arrest.

	1986	John Duffy	Duffy murders Anne Lock she is bound, raped and strangled.
	2000	Angel Resendiz	Resendiz is convicted of murder and requests the death penalty.
May 19	1870	Albert Fish	Albert Howard Fish is born in Washington D.C.
May 19	1980	Wayne Williams	14-year-old Eric Middlebrooks left home after receiving a telephone call from persons unknown. Found the next day, his death was due to severe head injuries, inflicted with a blunt instrument.
	1990	Aileen Wournos	David Spears is shot six times with a .22 calibre rifle.

May 21	1960	Jeffrey Dahmer	Jeffrey Dahmer is born in Milwaukee Wisconsin to Lionel and Joyce Dahmer.
	1972	Dean Corll	Corll murders 16 year old Johnny Delom and 17 year old Billy Baulch.
May 22	1981	Peter Sutcliffe	Sutcliffe is sentenced to life imprisonment for 13 murders and 7 attempted murders. He is incarcerated at Broadmoor Hospital.

May 24	1991	Jeffrey Dahmer	31 year old Anthony Hughes a deaf and mute black man meets Dahmer at the gay club called the "219 club," there Hughes communicated with Dahmer through lip reading and writing notes. After a little conversation Hughes agreed to go back to Dahmer's apt with him. Hughes is then drugged and strangled. Anthony Hughes's corpse lay on the ground for three days before his body was then mutilated by Dahmer, beyond recognition. When the body was then discovered Hughes was identified by dental records

May 26	1946	Dr Marcel Pettiot	Pettiot is executed by guillotine in Paris.
	1991	Jeffrey Dahmer	14 year old Konerak Sinthasomphone, with a criminal record of prostitution is lured by Dahmer to his apartment with the promise of money. Disoriented and dazed from the powerful drug given to him by Dahmer, Korenak escaped from the apartment. In a complete state of panic Konerak ran out of the apartment in search of anyone who could help, with Dahmer not far behind. Sandra Smith, 18 year old, and her cousin Nicole Childress also 18, would call the Police at just around 2 o'clock that dreadful night to report the child running "butt naked" down the street, obviously in a state of panic. There stood the two paramedics, the two girls, and Dahmer nearby, the police would arrive shortly after. The paramedics covered the young naked boy up in a blanket and tried to calm him. Because Korenak was in such a delirious and drugged state he could barely talk. Dahmer would come to explain that Korenak was his nineteen year old lover who was drinking heavily that night and that the two had had a quarrel. The police went to Dahmer's apartment and took a look around to see if everything was in order. Although the apartment smelled very bad it was also very neat, Konerak's clothes were folded very neatly on the sofa, along with photos of the boy in black bikini briefs. Konerak sat quietly on the sofa completely in shock that he had been returned to his tormenter. Little did police know but the decomposing body of Tony Hughes lay on the bed in Dahmer's room . The police then left the apt. leaving Konerak in Dahmer's custody. where Dahmer then strangled the Asian boy to death had sex with the corpse then sawed him into pieces.
May 27	1896	HH Holmes	Holmes is hanged at Moyamensing Prison, Philadelphia. He snapped at the hangman "Don't bungle", but the officer did and it took Holmes 15 minutes to die at the end of the hangman's noose.

May 29	1990	Jeffrey Dahmer	33 year old Ricky Lee Beeks, met Dahmer at a night club and where the offer of money for nude photos was accepted, once the couple were back at Dahmer's apartment the victim is offered the usual drugged drink before being strangled, assaulted and mutilated by Dahmer.
	1993	Colin Ireland	On May 29 the same year Ireland struck again. At the pub again he picked up 37 year old Chris Dunn. Back at Dunn's flat again Ireland tied his victim to the bed, this time he used handcuffs though. He then proceeded to beat the man with a belt and then tortured Dunn with a cigarette lighter against his genitals. When he was done torturing the victim, Ireland strangled him.
May 30	1971	Dean Corll	13 year old David Hilligiest and 16 year old George Winkle are murdered after being raped by Corll.
May 31	1994	Ivan Milat	Milat is formally charged with the murders 7 backpackers.
	1986	Hadden Clark	Clark follows one of his niece's friends, Michelle Dorr inside Clark's empty house. He pounces on her once she was inside and begins to slash at her with one of the large chef's knives he had brought with him. He covers her mouth with his hand which she in turn bites. In revenge he plunges the knife into the six-year-old's throat. The girl died as blood spurted from the wound in her neck. Clark attempted to rape the girl but could not. Clark stuffed the girl into an army surplus bag and then clean up as best he could. After work that evening Clark dug a hole in a nearby scrub area and after eating some of the dead girl's flesh he threw her into the hole, covering her with debris and rubbish lying around.
