Kaneohe Hammerheads
first year draft picks
1-5       6-10     11-15     16-20     21-25   Season 3
Season 4
Round 21 - Mark Prior - Pitcher
Mark Prior was touted as one of the next great arms.  Injuries have limited him to one full season in the Majors, but it was a good one.
Mark will operate out of the bullpen in season 1, before moving to the rotation for just one season.  He'll make a return to the pen in season 3 and 4, then see mostly mopup duty in year 5, if he makes the final cut.
Prior is the only active player on the Hammerhead roster.
Round 22 - Jack Sanford - Pitcher
  Jack Sanford won the NL
ROY in 1957 with a 19-8 record and 3.08 ERA.  He also placed 10th in MVP voting in that season.  In 1962, he finished 7th for the MVP and 2nd for the Cy Young with 24 wins (his only 20 win season).  With a career 3.69 ERA, Sanford will spend time both in the rotation for Kaneohe and working out of the Bullpen.  A value pick this late, he provides a season in the Hammerheads first year.
Round 23 - Todd Worrell - Pitcher
  Another NL
ROY in 1986, Worrell provides a solid arm in the late innings for Kaneohe.  Todd posted 256 career saves in 11 seasons.  Including 36 in season 1, with a 2.08 ERA.  Todd will see most of his time as a setup man for the Hammerheads, but could see some time as closer if Hiller falters, or while he is recovering from his heart attack.
Round 24 - Ginger Beaumont - Outfield
Needing additional AB in the OF while O'Neill and Manush are becoming full-time players, Kaneohe added the bat and glove of Ginger Beaumont.  A turn-of-the-century player, Beaumont finished his 12 year career with a .311 average.  He should see decreased playing time as other players come along, but was a nice pickup this late in the draft.
As of the All-Star Break in season 1, Beaumont is leading the team in both AVG and OBP. He also leads the team with 14 stolen bases, getting caught just twice.  Not bad for a guy who almost didn't get drafted.
Round 25 - George Stone - Utility
Only 3 picks away from being Mr. Irrelevant, George Stone will start at 1B for the Hammerheads in season 1.  With 68 triples in 6 seasons, Stone should excel in Comerica Park.  He will play mostly at 1B as a fill-in for Nap Lajoie in the early years of the franchise, and the team will be hard-pressed to find room for his RL AVG of .358 in season 2.
Stone filled a need for Kaneohe, and they hope he can live up to expectations.
