KACSPORTS 2005 PRE-SEASON FANTASY FOOTBALL RANKINGS - QUARTERBACKS
(UPDATED THROUGH 9/2)

1.
PEYTON MANNING Most commonly owned player by league champions last year, why I consider him #1 overall.
2.
DAUNTE CULPEPPER Loss of Moss will hurt initially, but Pepper and Troy Williamson will combine for some long gainers for the next few years.
3.
DONOVAN MCNABB Rift with Terrell Owens could factor negatively.
4.
TRENT GREEN 4,600 passing yards last year which figures to go down some with strong rushing game.
5.
MARC BULGER Started putting up big numbers towards the end of last year.
6.
KERRY COLLINS Moss says he's better than Pepper - won't go that far but certainly has the weapons.
7.
MICHAEL VICK Depends how much you like rushing yards v. passing.
8.
AARON BROOKS In case you're wondering, for the most part I'm not adjusting the rankings of any Saints players due to the relocation. Stat-wise they should be fine.
9.
BRETT FAVRE For someone they keep talking retirement about, Favre does pretty well, throwing for over 4,000 yards and 30 TDs last year alone. There's a good chance the Javon Walker deal will blow over by the time Opening Day rolls around.
10.
MATT HASSELBECK The question is whether his receivers can hold on to anything.
11.
TOM BRADY As if being compared to Rudolph Guliani aint enough, now Brady is being mentioned as a 2024 presidential candidate!!!
12.
JAKE DELHOMME Proved he's not a one-shot wonder last year - but now he has to do it without Mushin Muhammad.
13.
JAKE PLUMMER Not a fan favorite in Denver, but his stats were comparable to Favre and Delhomme last year, although he got a lot of yards in garbage time.
14.
CARSON PALMER Will he and Chad Johnson develop a Manning/Harrison type relationship???
15.
BYRON LEFTWICH Still offers a lot of upside.
16.
KURT WARNER 14-19 for 151 yards in Cards pre-season opener. Could round into 1999-2001 form with his arsenal.
17.
CHAD PENNINGTON Showed arm was strong in pre-season debut.
18.
DREW BREES Hurt ankle in exhibition finale.
19.
JOEY HARRINGTON Garcia injury makes Joey much safer pick.
20.
STEVE MCNAIR Early reports are McNair is in his best shape of recent years.
21.
BRIAN GRIESE 20 TDs and a 97.5 rating in just 11 starts.
22.
DAVID CARR Started hot but cooled down with the weather - Only 34 TDs in 44 career starts.
23.
J.P. LOSMAN Will be used heavily in salary-cap style games since he hasn't started before. JPL has a good offense to work with, so there is sleeper potential. If nothing else you should get rushing yards.
24.
BEN ROETHLISBERGER One of the better rookie seasons of any QB in recent memory, but was often compared to Troy Aikman - better in real life than in fantasy. Prolonged Hines Ward holdout may hurt.
25.
KYLE BOLLER One of the young QB's on the spot this year.
26.
ELI MANNING New York fateful will be on him if he doesn't improve markedly. Early Plexico Burress injuries not a good sign.
27.
DREW BLEDSOE Can you say stop-gap??
28.
TRENT DILFER Winslow injury means rookie Braylon Edwards will be his only weapon.
29.
KYLE ORTON Desparate Bears turn to second-day rookie to open the season.
30.
PATRICK RAMSEY Jason Campbell first-round selection sends clear message on Pat's future.
31.
BILLY VOLEK Won a lot of people some money last December.
32.
GUS FREROTTE Most logical starter in Miami, but only a stopgap.
33.
TIM RATTAY Until it's decided that it's time for Alex to start.
34.
JOSH MCCOWN Will see action considering Warner's injury history.
35.
JON KITNA Class act content helping out Palmer as a #2.
36.
ALEX SMITH As a #1 overall pick, he will start sooner rather than later. Will pick up bonus yards on the ground.
37.
BRAD JOHNSON Back in Minnesota, yank him off the waiver wire if Pepper goes down.
38.
TOMMY MADDOX Steelers were more pass-oriented with him than Big Ben.
39.
CHRIS SIMMS Got a start but got hurt last year, look for him in 2006 after Griese finds somewhere else to play.
40.
MATT SCHAUB Was incredible last pre-season, but like Vick found precious little to throw to in late-season playing time.
41.
PHILIP RIVERS Won't see the field barring a Brees injury.
42.
A.J. FEELEY Heard someone say 'War anyone but Feeley starting for the Dolphins.' My sentiments exactly.
43.
KELLY HOLCOMB Brought in as an insurance policy for unproven second-year man.
44.
JAY FIEDLER Now Jet fans can boo him.
45.
TODD BOUMAN Aaron Brooks durability has kept Bauman from showing his worth.
46.
TODD COLLINS Has gotten to throw all of 27 passes the last four years backing up Trent Green.
47.
MARCUS TUIASOSOPO Back up to #2 on the depth chart - this year may be his last chance to show he can do something.
48.
AARON RODGERS If the Packers season falls apart, and theres a good chance it might Aaron could see some time in December.
49.
TONY ROMO Has passed Drew Henson on the depth chart, some feel Romo's the best quarterback the Cowboys have. Good bye week/waiver wire option if/when he starts.
50.
DAN ORLOVSKY Motor City Bowl is actually good for something, as Lions brass got to take a look at him last year without running up a travel bill. Has great arm but doesn't always know where it's going. Bears monitoring as he moves behind Harrington on the depth chart.
