Joe was born in Rodeo Ca.
and took to the rails as a young man to Los Angeles. He took up boxing
and after only one amateur bout fought in many events at the various
boxing arenas of Southern California,
eventually leading him to the Olympic Stadium. His many wins by KOs and
crowd pleasing appeal soon took him up and down the Pacific Coast in
the 1920's and '30's.
