Much to the vexation of his Managers and Promoters, Joe refused any and all fights that would take him away from his family. Consequently, all his fights were within driving distance all along the Pacific West Coast, surely an adventure in itself to his wife Delia (who eventually managed him herself), and 3 or 4 children in tow at that time.
