When Joe finally retired from Boxing in
1935,
he started working in the studios as a Grip in Local 80
First at MGM and then all the Major lots of
Hollywood until he retired in 1963
 |
Joe broke
his ankle during the production of this award winning film and Joan
gave him the medallion pictured below in appreciation for his efforts
and a heartfelt "get well soon" gesture. |

 This is a charcoal drawing of Joe that his son (Joe Jr.), did from some old photographs. Hanging on the frame is a handpainted tie presented to Joe by an admiring fan of his in the late '40's - was it Linda Darnell?  |
