Sophie Howe is Labour's candidate for the 2007 elections to the National Assembly for Wales. Here you can find out the latest from Sophie's campaign to keep Cardiff North Labour.

Sophie has placed the family at the heart of her campaign. She has launched her family pledges, setting out a fair deal for families that will boost opportunities for parents and ensure children have the best care and education.

Sophie's pledges are:

--
more affordable, flexible childcare to help working mums and dads
--
healthy and nutritious school meals - because mums and dads have enough on their plates without having to worry about what their children have on theirs
--
services to meet the needs of families in Cardiff - ensuring that our communities and our city centre are family-centred and family-friendly
-- a personal priority to
end child poverty - because every child deserves an equal chance in life and because child poverty is a scar on all of us

Sophie says: "As a working mum, I know what a huge difference the Labour Assembly has already made to parents and kids in Cardiff. Strong families will be at the centre of my campaign for Cardiff North, because strong families make for safe and prosperous communities. The Assembly is delivering progressive, positive policies for parents and children that are making a difference on the ground.

"I am relishing the prospect of taking my message out to the people of Cardiff North, because I want their support to fully eradicate child poverty, improve the standard of food in schools, provide more affordable and flexible childcare and place the family at the heart of service delivery."
Lib Dems accused of tuition fees cover-up

Sophie accuses the Liberal Democrats of trying to cover-up a policy U-turn on tuition fees - which they have previously pledged to scrap.
