Sophie said: "Labour in Westminster and in the Assembly have brought forward tough new measures to tackle anti-social behaviour, but a key part of that is supporting our families.
"I'm disappointed that Cheryl Gillan has demonstrated that she's not prepared to support hard-working families in Cardiff North, or anywhere else.
"She has attacked the minimum wage and our fairness at work legislation. For all her talk, she still has the same old right-wing Tory policies with a new gloss.
"With her gaffes and her policies she is already shaping up to be the new John Redwood for Wales."
As a Tory Education and Employment Minister in the last years of the John Major Government, Cheryl Gillan was responsible for the Assisted Places Scheme, which helped a few to go to private school at the expense of the many.
In contrast, Sophie has put the family at the heart of her campaign, pledging more affordable, flexible childcare; healthy and nutritious school meals; services to meet the needs of families in Cardiff; and a personal priority to help end child poverty.
