The costume ball is in three days, so that doesn't require immediate action. Chisaibu is, however, going to try to remember who he came into town with. Or at least the emergency place to get in touch with the person. Those are good things to know in any case. And that's all, for now.
The magic shop business can wait until tomorrow unless he happens to pass one while walking. It's not urgent.
He is not going to try to track down the rogue wizard today, but he is going to keep his ears open.
He is going to follow the map and go to the meeting, but he wants to do it on his terms (ie., looking down from the rafters). But that makes him nervous, so he wants to hide his stuff. So he is going to spend the entire day looking for a hidey hole for his stuff. If he finds an acceptable hiding spot early, here's what he'll do:
If he's remembered who is friend is or where the place is, he'll seek that person out.
If he hasn't, he'll go to a magic shop. Cautiously.
If he has time after these things, he'll think about how to get into the costume ball. To start with, he should case the place where the ball will be held. He also wants to think about a costume, and so he probably will want to break into a costume shop and check things out. Or, perhaps he will just walk in while they're open and browse. Depends on his mood, the time of day, the locations of the various stars and planets, etc. Feel free to make a bad-judgement call.
And of course, through all of this, he's keeping his eyes open for that priest. That really interests him, but he believes fervently that the encounter must be left to the gods. If he meets the priest at any point during the day, he will drop whatever he's doing and wander with the guy for a little while, at least, depending on how interesting the guy is. But he absolutely wants to go to the meeting spot on the map and he absolutely wants to find a spot to stash his gear, so he will want to wander away from the priest in time to get these things done.
If he finds a hidey-hole, here's what he'll leave behind:
all his money, excepting a little pocket change for drinks
the boomstick and cartridges
the black box
all his potions except for one of the oil of etherealness ones
the six foot bamboo stick, if there's room for it
the helm of brilliance
the bracers of defenselessness
his good cloak
He will take with him:
his weapons
the one potion
his thieves' kit
his ninja garb, worn under his priests' robe
his lucky charms
his belt of many pockets
his rock of continual light
So let me know what happens. Once it gets dark, he will case the tavern, then try to get on the roof and then into the rafters above the common room. From there, he will try to spy and see if he can see someone looking for him, or anything suspicious or dangerous. If he can't, then he will try to exit and come in again through the front door and wait to be contacted.

PS I do not have access to a box set. If there are any particularly relevant details, feed them to me in a stream of garbage, so it's not too obvious. But Chisaibu specializes in blissful ignorance, so it's no biggie.
