I thank the Lord for giving me an opportunity to testify and praise His holy name. I hope my testimony can encourage everyone to love the Omnipotent God deeply, rely on Him, serve Him, and trust Him more. I grew up in a cold family of many brothers and sisters. When I was small, the fortuneteller said, “If you don't give her away to another family, she will be handicapped.” I believed in fate very much, and the devil used this vain religion to say to me, “In your past life, you must have done many horrible things for your life to be this way now . . . .” Harsh words like these often flew around my ears making me feel that my life was harsh, helpless, meaningless, and superfluous. From then on I always had the idea of “finishing my life off” but I couldn't think of a painless way to die. (I have never been able to stand pain!)

Pessimistic, silent, worried, lonely, down on myself—since every aspect of my life was negative, for a long time I had no friends. Finally, when I was twenty-one, I went to Taipei to have my spine straightened and met some friends. Although I even discussed marriage with a man there, because I felt hopeless toward life, I decided to turn down his offer.

When my operation was over and I could go home to recuperate a while, gloom and depression filling my heart, I decided then and there to commit suicide. That time period in my memory is one of pain. It was right at that time that the Lord showed His grace to me. He let me meet Mrs. Ruth Harbour. Through her care the Lord let me understand He loved me very much, and because the Bible verse “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away, behold, all things are become new” battered against my heart, I knew it was the secret I had hoped for to change my miserable life. At this point Jesus Christ entered my life, and because of His love, He changed many incomplete areas of my life.

Today my spirit is full of joy and hope. When I love Him and rely on Him, His blessing never stops falling on me. The closest friends I have in Christ are wonderful friends, and I have two godchildren: Daniel and Amy Lai's daughter Dorcas and son Youjya. I am very blessed because I have Jesus Christ.

In the past I felt I was stupid and weak. Now “I can do all things through Christ that strengtheneth me.” And now, what is a testimony to God's grace, I can even give my testimony, teach Sunday school, and sing before whole groups of people. If I don't rely on Him, I can't do anything. After I met Jesus, I haven't been so down on myself and don't think myself ugly. In fact, I look better and better, don't you think? It’s because I have the beauty of Jesus.

Although fortunetellers are sometimes right, they can’t have a good influence on people. The devil uses these lies to cheat people. We need to be careful not to be fooled by them. Because God is the Lord of all, He can turn what is bad to good if you will just trust Him. I really believe that although God created me so that I couldn’t walk, I believe it was out of His love, and not because of some sin in a previous life. It was so that He could accomplish His perfect will in my life, to demonstrate His marvelous works. If it weren't for my handicap, I would be on my way to destruction.

God sent an angel into my life—Mrs. Ruth Harbour. From her I have learned much about how to glorify God and to help other people. I also understand that serving God is the way to show my love for God. In my service, I also exercise my faith. I really thank the Lord that He often protects and blesses my little sheep. One time before Sunday school, when I was preparing to teach, I didn't know why, but I felt like calling the child who was playing nearby over to me. He was a bit annoyed that I had called him. Right then, a large glass window in the church broke and fell to the ground right to the place where he had been playing. We both broke out into a cold sweat as we hugged each other there and thanked the Lord for His protection. God used me to protect a child and showed me that the reason we give the gospel to children is to save them from destruction. If God gives me the chance, I must work to “call” people to believe in the Lord Jesus.

The benefits and blessings received from serving the Lord have come to me and to the people around me that I love. I have a Sunday school student (my nephew) who is clever and faithful (He often gets the prize for perfect attendance). When he was ready to graduate from a special kindergarten, he had a very important examination. Since his ability wasn’t fully developed, if he was able to get President’s (standard) Honors that would be pretty good. So, with his family putting pressure on him as if he were taking the college entrance exam, I prayed with him and encouraged him to rely on the Lord. And as we hoped, he not only got President's Honors, but he received the Chancellor's (highest) Honors. His teacher said, “The students I thought would do better than he didn't even make Standard Honors. He got the award that seemed impossible to get. He ‘broke everybody's eyeglasses!’” After this the Sunday school kids all called him “Chancellor.” Praise the Lord! When he was in third and fourth grade, because I felt his teacher wasn't paying that much attention to her teaching, I asked him to pray for the fifth- and sixth-grade teachers. This year he is in the fifth grade and the Lord has put him in the best class with the best teacher in the school.

God loves us this much and listens to our prayer. According to His will, we will receive if we only believe (Mt. 21:22). Already for a long time, I have taught that clever nephew to pray and dedicate his life to the Lord. I hope the Lord can use him one day as a good pastor.

Although I grew up in a Buddhist home, because I trusted the Lord, now there are eight Christians in my family. But still three-fourths of my family members are not saved. I need to work harder at praying and showing concern for my unsaved family members. When we show concern for other people, God gives us what we value most. His desire is that we seek His kingdom first and its righteousness. He will then give us other things (Mt. 6:23). God’s promise will never be unfulfilled. He will show Himself faithful, righteous, gracious, loving . . ..

Thank the Lord for how gracious He has been to me. Although I was weak, insignificant, and worthless in other people's eyes, in God's eyes, I became a blessing (I Cor. 2:27-29). I really hope all of you value what you have and use your gifts to serve the Lord because God says, “For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance” (Mt. 25:29).

By my example, more Christians can give handicapped people more opportunities to know the gospel, so they can be born again and be cared for and encouraged in the Lord. Whatever you do, the Lord will pay back many times over. May God bless you with an overflowing cup!
