Learning Beliefs
The media center is the epitome of Standard II. Planning and designing learning environments and experiences is constantly taking place in the library. The media center is a great source for new techology, ideas, and resources. As an elementary school librarian, I am continually assisting teachers as they use technology from the district e-mail to online sources. Also, I provide resources that they can use and consult with teachers on technology lessons for the classroom.

Artifact I is a lesson on Women's History month, using netTrekker. A third grade teacher observed my sixth grade library lesson and wanted to use it for her class; I assisted her in transforming my lesson to meet the needs of her third graders. We consulted on the simplest way to implement netTrekker into the classroom so that it would be an enhancement to a lesson (having only two computers in the classroom, the project had to be over a time period) and we created simpler questions for her students to answer from the website.
As for the media center, its physical learning environment is continually changing. Access to the online catalog has changed to make it easier to use for the elementary students. Availability of books and videos for the teachers has changed for convienent access. The layout of the media center is constantly changing to accommodate the number of students.
