MONDAY |

I got in Monday morning and found my way to Carmie's flat. After dropping off my stuff I took the day to explore England. I took the Tube to Charring Cross and got to Trafalgar Square (home of all the birds in Mary Poppins). Then I walked down Whitehall seeing many things I really didn't know what they were. Then I got to the famous building with Big Ben (which I have to admit I thought was Westminster Abbey). I followed a long British tradition of loving queues (lines) so much that I got in one that I didn't know what it was for. It turned out I was at the Parliament Building, and was in line to see the House of Commons. It also turns out that when I got in was also the time that Tony Blair was addressing them on the situation with Iraq, so that was pretty cool! After he was done, I found Westminster Abbey (next door) and found the only free way to go inside which was going to church. So I went to Evensong, which is the Catholic Ma'ariv (the Jewish evening service) and I got to hear their boys' choir and see the church and it was really quite amazing. Then I joined Carmie for an evening of fish and chips and some 1.60 pound beers! All in all, a great first day in London |
