Technical Writer
IT / Customer Quality Engineering

1995 - 2000

This job was created to bring order to the Quality departmet's customer and engineering reporting. Was given the job because of excellent writing and presentation skills. First task was to create a consolidated customer quality report. This report was typically taking a secretary and two engineers about two weeks to prepare each month. After automating many elements of the data collection and reporting output, one person could create an entire report in about 4 hours. Also worked with the engineering department on customer qualification reports and simplified documentation while standardizing reporting templates. Designed, created and developed web resource page to distribute these controlled documents across Seagate's intranet electronically. This web page eventually became Seagate's first customer-facing, online engineering document distribution system.

Competencies:
Technical documentation creation and control, distributed team management, HTML coding and internet security

People Managed:
up to 10 indirect reports for various functions. Also managed teams remotely for document distribution

Budget Managed:
$150,000 allocated for online document distribution. Did not manage the budget, but was responsible for cost control.

Reason For Leaving:
Accepted position as Program Manager in Sales and Marketing IT group in 2000.
