Production Master Scheduler
Customer Service Organization

1991 - 1995

This position had also never existed before. Was the second scheduler hired right behind a 20-year scheduling veteran. Oversaw the transfer of production and repair operations from Minnesota to Oklahoma for 4 production lines. Shortly after the transfer, schedules reduced backlog from 2 years to less than one month return time. Created a database extract program that automatically reported demand, inventory and date (previously, schedulers had to sort through 1,000 pages of a paper printout). Eventually, assumed responsibility for 5 more product lines and oversaw the transfer of the first four lines to a third-party contractor. Upon leaving this position, all scheduling was done with automated report and backlog had been reduced across the board to less than one week.

Competencies:
Inventory, production scheduling, customer service management, vendor management, contractor management, cost control.

People Managed:
Managed scheduling and work assignments for up to 5 shift managers, each of which managed 20 to 30 employees.

Budget Managed:
No direct budget, but manage inventory typically valued over $5,000,000.

Reason For Leaving:
Outsourcing shut down production lines and threatened a reduction of force. Volunteered to change jobs and moved back to manufacturing in the Customer Quality organization as a technical writer - another job that did not exist before.
